Location

Kangaroo Island sits off the coast of South Australia and is Australia's third-largest Island. Kangaroo Island is more than a day-trip destination. At 155 kilometers long and up to 55 kilometres wide, it covers an area of 4,416 square kilometers and is separated from the mainland by a 15 kilometre stretch of ocean known as “Backstairs Passage”.  Think of an area 6 times the size of Singapore. Best known to be a 'Zoo without Fences', wildlife encounters are pretty much a given!  Learn more here.

Getting to Kangaroo Island

Most guests will drive their own vehicle over to KI using the SeaLink Ferry. It operates daily from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw. Cape Jervis is approximately 1.75 hours drive from Adelaide. The SeaLink ferry crossing takes approximately 50 minutes and then you will have another 1 hour 15 minutes drive out to Snelling Beach. You will need to plan to arrive at Cape Jervis at least 30 minutes ahead of your ferry departure time.

Kangaroo Island Connect is another transport option which runs a fast passenger catamaran between Cape Jervis and Penneshaw. Kangaroo Island Connect also offers hire cars on the Island, so it may be cheaper to go via KIC and hire one of their cars if you have a short stay on KI.

Flights operate between Adelaide and Kingscote Airport with Qantas Link and Rex Airlines.
